Bathroom Makeover

We recently finished our bathroom makeover project. Although we went a little over our budget, we are quite happy with the results. It was no different from building a whole new bathroom from scratch because everything from our old, ugly bathroom was replaced.

Take a look at our small, but cozy bathroom:

We have more projects coming up this year and one of them is to renovate our patio. I seriously think using cushions on the patio is a good way to achieve that laid-back and cozy feel to it. But of course, we need to save up for this project first.

Home Sweet Home

Being a homemaker myself for almost 7 years, I always try to think of ways to improve our home so it becomes more homey for my husband and our kids.

Needless to say, I want our home to be as comfortable as possible. Over the years, my husband and I worked together in making sure that all of our projects were fulfilled. Thank you Lord for blessing me with a wonderful husband!

This year, we're planning to have a big closet built for our kids, a book shelf, kitchen cabinets, and a few Adirondack chairs for our front yard.

Hopefully, we would be able to accomplish everything before the year ends. A blessed day to all!

Dehumidify your home

What is a dehumidifier and why is it important to use in your home?

A dehumidifier is a household appliance that reduces the level of humidity in air, usually for health reasons. Don’t you know that humid air can cause mold and mildew to grow inside your home, which has various health risks?

These dehumidifiers are tested under harsh conditions for months and are proven effective for damp areas.

Withstanding the storm

My little boy posing on our new sofa

Our old sofa was submerged in the flood when typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana) hit Metro Manila with no mercy September of last year. Since it was soaked for days, the upholstery had been severely damaged. Thus, we just decided to place it at our front yard and look for some outdoor chair cushions that matched its color. It's our first sofa set, so we didn't want to dispose it.

A few months after the typhoon, we were able to buy a new sofa. Some of our other furniture and appliances had been fixed and replaced too. We thank God every single day that we were able to bounce back after the storm.

Oh no! Not again!

Our sink is clogged again.

We had it repaired three or four months ago. Now it looks like it needs a major make-over again. What a waste of time and money. I wish we could just look for a better sink and have it replaced. But you see, the problem is not really with the sink itself. It's more on how the whole thing was built. I don't wanna get into details coz it's kinda complicated.

Yeah, dealing with sinks can be complicated. LOL. Especially if it keeps happening over and over again.

Sundays

Everyone who knows me is pretty much aware of the fact that Sunday is my favorite day of the week. We usually start our day listening to some worship songs to start our day right. Sorry, neighbors, if our stereo is too loud! LOL. Then, all of us eat breakfast together. We usually cook pancakes or anything special every Sunday morning because it's the only day that all of us are present for breakfast. After that, we watch Matanglawin -- our favorite show on Sunday (plus The Buzz for me. Hehe). Then the rest of our activities depend on our mood. Sometimes we watch DVD movies or stretch our vocal chords through videoke (sorry again, neighbors! :D). It would be nice to have one of those cozy home entertainment centers to complete the fun too! (wishful thinking... :D)

And of course, the most important thing that we do on a Sunday is we go to church to thank God for being so faithful to us in every possible way.

Blessed

My husband and I have already started canvassing for a brand-new car. Our plan is to get one in June coz that's when we'll finish paying for the monthly amortization of our house. Yey! Thank God for this wonderful blessing! Needless to say, we are all very excited!

I've also been asking auto insurance quotes from different companies. I just wanna make sure that we'll be getting the best insurance coverage at the cheapest rate.

Fire prevention

Since March is the Fire Prevention Month here in the Philippines, I want to make sure that all the electrical fixtures in our house are in good condition. This year, there were already several fire accidents reported on the news that killed families and burned houses to the ground. These accidents make me paranoid. I can't help but fear for the safety of my family, especially my kids. This morning I told my husband to have a fire exit built in our bedroom to appease my worries away. After all, prevention is better than cure. I wish we had home insurance though.

Whew!

Our new maid and I spent the whole day cleaning, arranging and sorting out my four-year-old son's toys. We bought a big toy box so we can put all the small toys inside it. Then we had the battery-operated ones compiled neatly on the shelves. His bike, ATV(All Terrain Vehicle) and other cars are also parked in the hallway next to our room.

It was a tiring day, but I'm glad everything is in order now. :)

Zero Radius Sinks

If I had the money now, I would work on the renovation of our kitchen in a snap of a finger. Hehehe.

I'm planning to have our sink expanded and have cupboards or cabinets built underneath it. And oh! Have you heard about the zero radius sinks before? I heard that's what's IN among modern homes now. Hmmm....Why not, di ba?

TV-holics!

My husband is fond of watching DVDs at home during his free time while I, on the other hand, am fond of watching all sorts of talk shows (especially the showbiz-oriented ones! haha!) available on TV. And since we only have one TV at home, there are times that we would argue over things as petty as this. Because sometimes I'd find him watching a movie just in time for my favorite TV show. So I would tell him to just continue watching whatever he's watching when my favorite show has ended. Most of the time, he would give in. But there are times that he would go ballistic! Hahaha.

Recently, we came up to an agreement that we need to get another TV for our bedroom so we won't argue anymore. Great idea, right? Hahaha. As soon as we're free, we'll start hunting for a nice semi-flat screen TV (para mas mura!). I'm also checking out some tv stands available online coz we'll be getting one too! :-)

Merry Christmas!!!

Thank you for all the blessings, Lord!
My little santa

Are you a couch potato?

Looking for some cinema home theater seating for the entire family? Check out TreoModern.Com for a variety of home entertainment furniture. I guess it wouldn’t hurt if you add this to your Christmas shopping wish list, would it? LOL.

I totally agree that there’s nothing more perfect than spending your weekend at home with your family. Watching a movie while munching some home-made popcorn is probably your kids’ favorite bonding activity.

Healthy lifestyle

Why do I find it so hard to have a healthy lifestyle? You know, eat healthy food and exercise regularly. Sometimes it makes me wonder where other people get such determination and discipline.

I keep telling myself that if other people can do it, why can’t I? But the truth is, I don’t know where and how to start. Maybe I should totally give up meat and all my bad eating habits. But how?

First and foremost, maybe I should learn what healthy cooking is. So I can start eating healthy.

Bacon of the month club

I love bacon! It’s actually my favorite breakfast since I was a kid. I would always ask my mom to buy one for us and fry it well-done then match it with some garlic rice. Now it’s my son’s favorite food too. Everytime I ask him what he wants to eat, he would say, “I want bacon, mommy...” :-)

Anyway, if you love bacon as much as I do, please sign up for the bacon of the month club membership at thepignextdoor.com and receive a different artisan bacon made from delicious heirloom pork delivered to your door once a month.

Artificial flowers

Silk flowers and plants are perfect as home decoration. Most of them are made of a silk screened polyester and are even hand painted so they will look as real as they could possibly be. I also heard that more people are switching to silk flowers and plants nowadays because of the high quality in the manufacturing process that makes them look more realistic than ever.

I checked their price online and I could say that they aren't so expensive at all and they're much better than any artificial plants available in the market today.

Beautify your home!

I strongly agree that outdoor lighting creates a warm welcome for your guests -- and I wish I had that talent in terms of home exterior designing. I love looking at lovely homes. Thus, everytime my husband and I get our yearly bonus from work, we make sure that we have a new project for our home sweet home.

Next week we're getting our Sick Leave Mid-year Conversion (yep, sick leaves that are not used will be converted to cash!) so we're gonna have the Masters' Bedroom painted. It's our new room in the house. We had it built in March (if my memory serves me right) and destroyed the old small room that we used to have to extend our living room. Greggy now enjoys riding his ATV inside the house.

I am so excited about this new project!
