Disability Insurance

What do you think about disability insurance?

I guess the only thing that's probably stopping me from getting one is my "lack of knowledge" regarding the many benefits it can give me and my family. You can also say that I'm more concerned about the credibility of the company that I'm getting insurance from. Sometimes I can't help but think, what if the company closed down? Could I still get my money back?

I am totally at a loss. Maybe if someone would be persistent enough to sit down with me and explain this whole insurance thing, I'd probably change my mind. :-)
